Beehive Software's release of the On-demand
BeeMail Secure Message Gateway answers customer requirements for pragmatic email security. The BeeMail Secure, Message Gateway is the first Email security product that allows the user to turn the "Secure Message Delivery" feature ON or OFF for each Email. It may only be a few Emails that the Sender wants to secure in "https browser retrieval" mode since "pickup" involves an extra step for the recipient. To designate a message for “Secure Delivery” the user merely enters the word "Secure" as the first word in the Subject. The gateway sets up an account and URL for the recipient and sends a pickup notification. Secure messages are DOD/HIPPA-SECURE while casual email passes through without being security hardened.

How does BeeMail Work?
BeeMail parses email on the fly and substitutes a URL if the user has determined that the email should be designated as "Secure". If the email has been secured, BeeMail sends the message and any attached files to the BeeMail https-secure file transfer server. The intended recipient is sent an email notification message. The recipient clicks on the URL in the notification message, enters his password, and the secure messages and files can be accessed and downloaded as required by the user.

To be a truly secure system, passwords cannot be distributed by insecure Email; the BeeMail secure message gateway supports "Out-of-Band" password notification. The BeeMail "Out-of-Band" password distribution procedure meets FIPS security requirements. If the message is determined to be "SECURE" and a sender enters a recipient Email address that BeeMail has not captured as a previous account, then BeeMail automatically sets up a receiver account for the Email address, assigns a password and sends a special "distribute passwords" Email notification to the Sender. The Sender clicks on the URL in the message which opens his browser, enters his password and is given access to the list of his recipients that he needs to call and provide system assigned passwords. BeeMail optionally includes the Sender’s phone number in the recipient’s notification Email so the recipient can call the sender to pick up the password. BeeMail is the only system that relieves the email system administrator by devolving password distribution to the Email "Senders".

The BeeMail Secure Message Gateway is a software only solution that can run on your Intel hardware of choice. The BeeMail Message Gateway is available for $3995 and includes licensing for 200 Secure message Senders and an unlimited number of Secure message Recipients. The BeeMail Secure Message Gateway also includes the BeeMail Large File Attachment Gateway functionality. Users can send file of any size through the gateway. BeeMail supports all the most common email packages for Windows and Macintosh, including Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Notes and any other product that uses SMTP as the sending protocol. Beehive - A long History of Innovation:
The BeeMail Email extension is built on top of a series of previous Beehive Software product releases. Beehive has tackled all of the foundation problems that had to be mastered before email could attach large files. Beehive Software was the FIRST to develop a file transfer product using "On-the-Fly" streaming file compression (1998), the FIRST to use Universal Email Addressing for File Transfer (1999), the FIRST to use https as a secure large file transfer protocol (2000), the FIRST to implement file transfer “latency tolerance” over commodity Internet bandwidth (2002), the FIRST to develop file transfer SMTP proxy agents (2003) and the FIRST to develop a totally transparent Outbound Email Boundary Services Gateway (2004). It's no wonder that Microsoft needs another two years to finish their release; Beehive has been working on aspects of this product line sine 1997!

Beehive (including its private label versions) is the most widely installed file transfer software in the printing, prepress and newspaper industries with over 1500 site licenses and 100,000 end users.
