Newsletter For The Week Of December 11, 2019.

Mathletics (Peter Christiansen, The Beehive)
“I didn’t know the school had a math team. I wasn’t entirely sure what a math team did. I had never been good at sports. In city league baseball, I wasn’t just picked last, I was put on the team made up of all the kids that the coaches refused to pick at all. Being picked for the school team, even if it was the math team, was a foreign experience for me. Of course, being a dutiful student, I did as I was told and reported to math practice.”
More than a Plot Point – The Whole Point of Knives Out is Immigration (L.R. Encinas, The Beehive)
“Knives Out works for a lot of reasons because the stakes are high. It’s a matter of life or death for Harlan Thrombey, and for Marta and her family. In mixed-status families, it’s often the children who take on the role of parent, as earnings and livelihood and responsibilities are placed upon their delicate heads. This isn’t just a story about everyone wanting a piece of Harlan Thrombey, it’s a story about everyone needing something from Marta.”
The Beehive Daily (Chris Rawle, Clint Betts, The Beehive)
Topics of the week include (but are not limited to) the porn czar, Rage Against The Machine, grandpas, golf, suits, duct tape, suits made of duct tape, Washington DC, hair parts, neutered men, amputation, friendship, salt, sex, STDs, STIs, authors, doctors, and multi-armed gods. As always, voicemails are welcome: 385-344-8011.
Strangerville Podcast (Eli McCann, Meg Walter, The Beehive)
This time in Strangerville, Meg and Eli are apparently unsanitary – don’t eat at their houses. And Rebbie Brassfield takes the Strangerville Live stage to talk about her infertility.
